We are back from the beautiful Dominican Republic. We had such a blast! Swimming with the dolphins was the highlight of our trip. We really got to interact with the dolphins. Not only did we get to swim with these beautiful creatures we hugged them, kissed them and played with them. The whole park was incredible! We had such an enjoyable time throughout the whole day. They had so many things to explore there. It truly was an experience of a lifetime. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity, it made our trip one to remember. New attraction at Ocean World!!!

It’s a pleasure for us to inform you that we have new family members within our facilities: we have received in our facilities 6 beautiful Iguanas!!!

The name of the species is Rhinoceros Iguana (or Cyclura corneta), they are endemic of the Hispaniola Island but are now protected and in state of conservation, because of the destruction of their natural habitat (arid zones) and the hunting.

Ocean World is bringing to its visitors a display of the richness of the country and contributes to make public the information about the protected animals in the Dominican Republic, so to raise awareness amongst its visitors and the community.

The iguanas have adapted very quickly to the new habitat, since they were born under human care, and soon Ocean World visitors will have the opportunity to enter their habitat and observe these animals from up close, learning from their trainers about their behavior and the care they need.

Birth of a baby sea lion at Ocean World Adventure Park

Ocean World Adventure Park, Marina and Casino is proud to announced the birth of a baby sea lion of the South American breed.

From the first moment that the team of experts at the park were aware of the state of gestation of the sea lion, the pup’s mother, all necessary care was taken to ensure the well being of both mother and the baby.The new baby sea lion was born July 24, 2010 during the day, after a labor of about an hour. The pup is a male who, at birth, weighed 25 pounds. The delivery occurred in breech position (fins first), contrary to the usual head first. Parents are named Chacha and Jefe , both 9 years old and originally from Uruguay. Chacha nursed him after 8 hours of birth. He swam for the first time at 11 days old and is already a confident swimmer. Like all babies, is very playful and loves to play with pieces of ice, hoses and other toys made by the coaches.

The training of the new baby will start from the time when he can eat solid food (fish). Among the initial behaviors he will learn will be relaxation techniques to allow the veterinarians to perform routine checks, which ensure a long and healthy life.

We are very happy to share this important news to the media, society and the world, since the birth of this new baby sea lion symbolizes our commitment to preserving the environment, diversity of life, care and respect for all animal species that inhabit Ocean World. This is the second event of its kind to be recorded at Ocean World, as in 2006 a bottlenose dolphin "Lili" was born under human care in our facilities.

We are extremely satisfied that Ocean World has successfully nurtured the second birth of an exotic animal in our facilities. As evidence that these species under human care can live long, healthy and safe lives.

Since last summer the park has been developing an educational campaign aimed at children to create awareness about important issues such as the care and protection of animals and the preservation of our planet's natural resources.

Royal Dolphin Swim!

Enjoy one full hour swim session with 2 dolphins in the largest manmade dolphin habitat in the world!!

Guests encounter, kiss, hug, pet and feed dolphins in deep water, swimming and playing with them during half hour.

Then the session continues in the private beach area for half hour more, interacting with dolphins one on one in their environment.

Pectoral ride and foot push with a boogie board will be part of this great experience!

Educational Program

“Ocean World Adventura Park has created the Educational Program to teach visitors why we do what we do”.

It takes place in a specially designed classroom fully equipped with audiovisual material and is free for all children age 4 to 12 years old that visit our park.

It lasts approximately 30 minutes and it includes:

Video presentation of the diversity of life and the unique characteristics of each species that inhabit our park.

Explanation on how to take care of the environment, giving kids an active experience about nature.

Question & Answer session during and after the presentation

Paintings and more fun activities during which kids have the opportunity to make hands on craft with recycled items!!

AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM, EACH KID RECEIVES AN ACTIVITY BOOKLET TO TAKE HOME!
